Beverages, Alcoholic Drinks and Wines

A meal without wine is like a day without sunshine.
Una cena senza vino è come un giorno senza sole.

We quaff our thirst with many things.
Wine is among the oldest drinks known to man, safer than water to many
of the ancients. We can turn the simplest grain into an alcoholic beverage,
then mix it with other ingredients to make delicious drinks. We can
slake our thirst with water, whether fresh from a bubbling spring, purified
from a tap or a bottle of designer water. The drinks we make are sometimes
holiday traditions, putting us in a celebratory mood.
Wine may be the favored drink of
humankind. In whatever countries a grape vine can root, you will find
grapes turning to the sun, growing juicy, waiting to become wine. There
are endless varieties of wine, from sweet and syrupy to dry and crisp,
from deep hearty red wines to light white wines. We make the wine sparkle
and use special grapes, call this Champagne and use it to toast milestone
in our lives. We decant wine so it may breathe, purchasing the best
cut-glass decanters.
The benefits of wine fridges is that it helps you manage its maturity and improving the aroma, flavor and complexity, whether you want it to store for a week, year or even a decade.
|
We hold wine in reserve if a year
is good. We build special wine cellars, with humidity and temperature
control to protect, cherish and maintain the prize wines of special
vintage. When it comes to wine, we turn romantic, our vocabularies become
poetic. We describe the taste of wine using the words of gemstones -brilliant
amber, clear ruby, dull garnet. Taste has several aspects such as sweetness,
body, length, balance, acid. The aroma of wine we describe as a bouquet
and use words such as flowery, spicy, smoky, woody. Let us begin
our discovery...

Pertinent and Impertinent Facts about Alcoholic Drinks
A cocktail may be defined as a chilled alcoholic drink made from a combination of liquors with ingredients to flavor added.
A 'built drink' is one that has all ingredients put in a glass, then is stirred about three times.
Whiskey is an established tradition in the US, going back to the founding fathers. None other than George Washington was possessed of a distillery. He was able to produce 11,000 gallons when he founded the company. He made a whopping profit of $7,500. Recently a reconstructed distillery was opened.
