Hot Mulled Wine

A variation for the holiday season, whether Thanksgiving or Christmas

  • 3 (3") cinnamon sticks
  • 20 whole cloves
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 medium orange - sliced thin
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 gallon burgundy wine
 

Method

Combine first 5 ingredients in large pan. Bring to a boil, then lower temperature.  Add wine. Cover and let wine mixture simmer gently for 5 minutes.

Let cool just to be workable and strain mixture into a bowl. 

Ladle into in mugs and serve hot.
