Cider Cheese Fondue - For a Buffet Table - A Slow Cooker Recipe

Fondue - classic in Switzerland.

  • 3/4 cup apple juice or cider
  • 2 cups (8-10 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (4.5 ounces) shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pound loaf French bread, cut into chunks

Method

In a large saucepan, bring cider to a boil.  Reduce heat to medium low.

In a large mixing bowl, toss together the cheeses with cornstarch and pepper.

Stir mixture into cider.  Cook and stir for 3-4 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

Transfer to a 1-quart slow cooker to keep warm.  Stir occasionally.

Serve with bread cubes or apple wedges for dipping.
