Pepperoni Pizza Dip

There are endless permutations of the glorious flavorings we use for pizza.  Feel free to get creative with this.

  • 1 (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup light sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 3/4 - 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup scallion, chopped, green included
  • 1 cup (4 oz.) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Sturdy tortilla chips

METHOD

Be sure cream cheese is well softened.

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Using an electric mixer, blend together cream cheese, sour cream, oregano, garlic powder and red pepper.

Lightly grease a 9-inch pie plate.  Spread beaten mixture in plate.  Sprinkle the pizza sauce evenly over top, then toss chopped pepperoni and scallions over the top.

Bake in preheated 350°F oven for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese across top and bake an additional 10 minutes, just to melt the cheese .

Serve hot with sturdy tortilla chips. This can be made ahead and kept in the refrigerator until baking time.

Serves: 8 - 10 as side on buffet
