Chocolate Coconut Bars

Coconut and chocolate - a classic combination.

    • 4 cups crushed graham crackers
    • 1 cup butter, softened
    • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
    • 2 cups shredded coconut
    • 1 (13-ounce) can evaporated milk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup slivered almonds
    • 12 oz. chocolate chips

 

 

Method

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Mix graham crackers, butter, and powdered sugar. Pat into the bottom of a 9"x13" pan. Bake 10 minutes. Mix coconut, milk, vanilla, and almonds. Pour over crust and bake 10 minutes in preheated 350° F oven. In a double boiler over low heat melt chocolate chips and spread on top of bars. Cool. Cut into squares.

Yield: About 24 cookies
