Corn Pone

Lard gives great flavor to food, though we all distrust it. This corn pone doesn't use a lot. Indulge. Enjoy.

  • 3 cups cornmeal
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 2-3 cups boiling water
  • 3 tablespoons lard
 

METHOD

Preheat oven to 350 °F.

Mix together, cornmeal, salt and water.

Melt lard in 9" baking pan to coat. Pour remaining lard into corn meal. Mix well and pour mixture into baking pan.

Bake in preheated 350° F oven about 50 miutes, or until golden brown.
