The nine-lettered word chocolate may be one of the most loaded words in a food lover's language. For many women, chocolate not only takes the form of a food item, but also the nuances of an interpersonal relationship as well. And there are a lot of special friends from which to select - smooth or with nuts, dark or milk, plain, fruit or caramel centers, heart-shaped, bell-shaped or bunny-shaped...

For some, chocolate may represent a food we long for, but feel we must resist. Chocolate may also typify a self-proclaimed "weakness" if we dub it as a binge or trigger food.As such, we often assign chocolate almost demonic qualities. We've all heard of, and no doubt tasted, "sinfully" delicious chocolate cake, as well as "devil's" food cake.

And of course, the ultimate hedonistic appeal may be found in a slice of none other than "death" by chocolate. Perhaps no other food item is sliced to be served along with such harsh judgments.Exactly how do you take your chocolate? Dark or light? Well, there's good news for "dark" lovers. Dark chocolate contains roughly four times the amount of heart protective antioxidants as does the milk chocolate variety. And while these findings represent no reason to give up milk chocolate, bottom line - a balanced diet can include a piece of chocolate in each hand.
