We are deeply disturbed by Paula Deen's reluctance to admit to diabetes while selling the books that have contributed to that problem.  Given the publication date of this work, it would appear that it was produced after Deen learned of her diabetes.  We would like to be wrong, but diabetics everywhere deserve kinder treatment.

 

 
   

 

Melissa Clark is the author of thirty-two cookbooks, including her latest, Cook This Now. She is a New York Times food columnist, and her work has also appeared in Food & Wine, Gilt Taste, and other publications.
