Once wine production was the province of a few countries where ancient grapevines existed.  It may have been California that opened the path to luscious wines outside a once-closed territory, but today wines from around the world are available.  Available can mean confusing, but with these two guides to wines from around the world, you can master both the red and white varieties and toss in sparkling wines and roses as well.  This need not be costly as both Red Wines and White Wines contain guides to pricing as well as quality.

There is a short section in each book guiding the reader to various aspects of wine production: the vines themselves, growing the grapes, the process of turning grape to wine, as well as a guide to the leading wine varieties.  Continuing the handy reference pages, there is a guide to selecting wine in general, to storing and serving wine, and how to taste.  As a coda, thee is the all-important advice on combining food and wine.

And then the round-the-world tour begins.

With fully captioned photos of featured wines, vineyards, and wine-growing regions around the world, everything you need to know for either red or white is in each guide, and formatted for ease of use.  You can look for your favorite wine, or travel by country, discovering new, exciting wines as you peruse the books.

As one example, should you want to know about Barossa, one of Australia's more famous exports, you will find a guide to the main vintners with descriptions of terroir, and of the wines, such as if a wine is full-bodied, acidic or not, what overtones the wine carries, and what food pairings will bring out the best taste in both wine and food.  Vintage years for each wine are listed as well.

Everything you need to know about choosing, drinking, keeping, and pairing wine and food is in each book. Travel through the valleys and hills of the old world growers in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Eastern Europe, Eastern Mediterranean, Germany and Australia and discover the vineyards of the new, whether in North or South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa.

This is one sample of the easy formatting to guide you to expertise.
